Frequently Asked Questions
What does XP Privacy Pro do?
Many people do not realize that the Windows operating system, Internet browsers as well many other programs store useless and redundant information on your hard drive. Not only does this information affect your computer performance by eating up needed hard drive space, but it can also pose a serious risk to your privacy. When someone accesses your computer, whether it's a hacker from the outside or someone sitting at your desk, they can use this information to find out what documents you have used, which pictures you have viewed, what web sites you have visited and much more. XP Privacy pro cleans out all of this loose information, protecting your privacy and keeping your system at peak performance. These traces are shredded, overwritten multiple times, to prevent them from being recovered by both software and advanced methodologies.
What versions of Windows are supported?
XP Privacy Pro is only supported on Windows 2003 and Windows XP.
Windows Vista support will be added soon for Vista Beta 2.
XP Privacy Pro runs on Windows 98/ME/NT/2000 but we do not support them.
What is the .NET Framework 2.0?
The .NET Framework is a set of tools developed to operate within the Windows operating system. All new versions of Windows ship with this preinstalled and the latest version of Windows (Vista) will have .NET pre-installed. XP Privacy Pro requires the .NET framework 2.0 to function and it will only be installed if it is not already on your computer.
Why does the installation have to download files from the internet sometimes?
The .NET Framework is required in order to function. Almost 70% of all Windows XP users have this installed, as it is installed via Windows Update if you request. We did not include this in the installation itself in order to maintain a simpler installation process and a smaller installation package. Read the FAQ response above this topic to read more about the .NET Framework.
